Biography: Barry Oshry is president of Power & Systems, Inc., a Boston-based educational institution he and his wife and partner, Karen Ellis Oshry, established in 1975.
A pioneer in systems thinking, he has developed high-impact programs aimed at illuminating system life and empowering system members at all levels and in all positions. He is the creator of The Power Lab (The Power & Leadership Conference), which is offered twice yearly on Cape Code in Massachusetts; The Organizational Workshop on Creating Partnership, which he and Power & Systems associates conduct in organizations and institutions throughout the world; and the workshop on Creating Community in the Face of Difference. His other activities include the Rabination Project and the Terrible Dance of Power Web site. His essay "The Terrible Dance of Power" and his book
The Dance of Disempowerment have been the bases of productions by the Seattle Public Theater and the Seattle Mime Company. His most recent venture is writing and staging the play
